Music played a big part on my asian drama series addiction. The way it was scored, when to inject in the music may it be with lyrics or just plain instrumental can make the whole scenario more heart gripping or make you giddy with anticipation and…yeah…even if the actors are so over/under acting.
I cannot remember how many times in the past that the opening credits music alone was the one responsible for making me sit and try to watch a new drama series that some already placed on the ‘not to watch’ pile even if you have nothing better to do. I confess I am a certified music lover and OST’s are such a joy for me to listen to and help me in my everyday musings.
One kdrama that I have come to love in the past because of its beautiful musical scoring was Soulmate. Of course, it also helped that Shin Dong Wook is such a cutie and I like the story. I have said in the past that anything with destiny and fate never fails to woo my romantic heart.
The song, C’mon Through by Lasse Lindh is just right for it. For those who’ve watched it already, I know you know where I am coming from, right? The window scene in the restaurant while SDW is sitting and Lee Soo Kyung is passing by outside with an umbrella while rain is pouring down and of course the phone conversation, the random dialling. I can’t help but sigh and sigh.
Here’s the music video if you want to relive the moments:

Other songs: The Stuff , 모든-토요일 , Satisfy Me , Postino , I Miss You , Goodbye To Romance
Zen Me Ban of the girl group, S.H.E. gave Taiwan’s Hana Kimi a quirky, fresh, upbeat feel that led me into watching the whole series and of course, it also help that Wu Zun is a hottie.

Other songs: Dong Le , Exclusive Angel
Who can forget the song that made us all cry in buckets while Eun Chan and Han Kyul go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions in the recent korean mega hit series, 1st Shop of the Coffee Prince. I still listen to As One’s White Love Story every night before I go to sleep.

hey miss asianD! hows you?
Your Hyun Bin ranked 4th on the marraigable male actor poll in china. Congratulations???
What is this? Great minds think alike, huh? I also love OSTs. Soulmate rocks and yes Dong Wook is so gorgeous, his eyes are the best. Coffee Prince, no explanation and further comment is needed. Everything is perfect in that kdrama. Across the Ocean is my favourite.
I love your site.
Thanks for the songs. I better watch Soulmate now that you raved about it. You are quite right with SHE’s song. I kept on singing even if I do not understand a single word. ‘Though I am not so impressed with Ella’s acting. I like the jdorama better but the taiwan version got better songs.
You are making me *sigh again and again. You made me want to watch it again and again.
You are bad for my schedule. I am going to set aside watching new drama series, instead here I am going back to watch Soulmate and Coffee Prince.
Hahahahaha, thanks for the songs and the music videos.

Hello!~!
I just had to comment, because ‘Soulmate’ is now on my top 10 list of k-dramas….it was just that moving and inspiring. Whew! I almost started believing in soulmates after that…well, almost.
I also cite music and OSTs as one of the most important reasons why some dramas just hit it off with the audience, and make even a completely bland story with bad acting– seem amazing. And I think Coffee Prince and Soulmate have definitely changed my taste in music. Where jazz has befuddled me before, I am now taking some interest in it.
Anyway, thanks for voicing my opinion!
it’s nice to know that there are other recovering Coffee Prince addicts out there like me . check out Missing Island’s song, Maiden Voyage from the OST of CP ( from the scene where Han Kyul is imagining Eun Chan while driving in his car & smiling to himself). everytime i listen to it, it makes me smile.
I totally agree with you. The OST is really great. But I had a hard time looking for it. For me, the role was made for Dongwook oppa~~ and the script is not dragging too.
hey, can i download C’mon Through – Lasse Lindh
pleeeeeeeeease
