Stephen Chow, the man behind the mega blockbuster hit, Kung Fu Hustle gave the rights for the worldwide distribution of his upcoming movie, A Hope, (also known as Long River 7) to Columbia Pictures Film Production Asia, a Sony HK company.
Do not be alarmed by the image you see above. There is nothing serious about this movie. It is a sci-fi comedy about a poor father, played by Chow, and his young son whose lives are changed when they take in a strange, new pet. Hmmmnn…sounds familiar…E.T. perhaps.
They started filming in China late last year and set to be released soon. This is their second collaboration already and is much awaited by a lot of fans since the first one grossed more than $100M worldwide and was critically acclaimed as well winning Best Film and Best Director in Taiwan’s version of Hollywood’s OSCARS.
