Legend/TWSSG Episode 10

Lord Yeun and Dae Jang Ro (head of the |Hwachoong Clan) were talking about what happened in Dae Jong so. The blinding light that emanated from the Hyeon Go’s staff/cane. It’s meaning and Damdeok’s disappearance afterwards. Each of them have their own assumption and conclusion on what had happened.

Kiha on the other hand asked Ho Gae if he was able to kill Damdeok. He then asked her back what if he did. Then Kiha bluntly told him that she will avenge her lover’s death. He then asked her what if Damdeok’s the real Jushin King. He witness the whole thing and said he could not move back then when the light was shining so bright. He was asking and wondering why she acknowledge hm the King if she is the Jujak (Red Phoenix). Kiha said it is quite impossible that Damdeok’s the one. He even dared her to stab him in the heart.

In the Kyoomul Village, Damdeok immediately prepared to leave the place the moment he woke up. Sujini  already guessed it so she was waiting for him to wake up. Hyeon Go is stopping him from leaving and going back to the palace since they were informed that Damdeok is now accused of killing the four sons then later killing his own father, the King so he can have the throne.

Damdeok said he wanted to see his father. He still can’t accept that he’s already dead. Hyeon Go reminded him that the King’s dead and Kiha who is a follower of the Hwanchoong clan killed him.

Damdeok: Don’t you have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a brain to think? I used my men as a shield to survive alone. I was the one who wanted to leave my father and my country to go somewhere with a woman to live comfortably away from here. You call me such a person like a King? Huh… Look for someone else. Find a crazy person like you. Leave me alone.

There is an ongoing meeting with some tribal leaders discussing the fate of the country. The castellan of Daejosong along with Jojoodo arrived and they were asked what really happened with Damdeok. As Jojoodo was already instructed by Lord Yeun to keep the real story to himself, they were able to twist the story and planted a different one in the minds of the tribal leaders. Lord Yeun concocted a different story. He said that the Imperial Guard who brought the King Choomo sword probably killed the King then gave the sword back to Damdeok to tell him that the deed was done. He was also able to convince the tribal leaders to remove Damdeok of his powers as the heir to the throne until they found the truth and that the country will be run by the tribal leaders temporarily after they resolved everything.

A warrant of arrest for Damdeok was then issued and posted in the city.

Damdeok on the other hand arrived in the city with Sujini in tow. He told her to leave him alone and not follow him but she does not listen. She asked if he is going to first to see Kiha or to the shrine to see his father’s body. She then offered to go to Kiha herself and arrange a meeting with her and Damdeok although she was wondering if her mentor, Hyeon Go is right and she’s a follower of the Hwachoong clan, she might kill her then kill him afterwards and besides they said that it her who killed his father.

It’s you whom I don’t trust now, you and your teachers. She and I were friends since we were eleven. Do you get it?

Sujini then sneaked in to the Yeun’s residence to give the message to Kiha.  Kiha was grateful for what she had done then she left. They did not realized that Saryang and Dae Jong Ro saw her and recognized her.

At the Shrine/Divinity House. The Oracle/Head Priestess was so happy to see Damdeok alive. He was so so heartbroken to see for himself that his father is inside a coffin. The oracle then said that there’s only one surviving witness and the guard told them that it was Kiha who killed his father. He is so angry probably confused and in disbelief that it was Kiha who did it. The Oracle then advised him to leave because the country is being run now by the Yeun’s.

Damdeok and Sujini was waiting for Kiha to appear in their meeting place but it was Hwachoong men who greeted them with swords. Kiha arrived and saw the whole thing, she wanted to go near but Saryang stopped her. She helplessly just look at them. Damdeok was so mad believing Kiha had betrayed him. Sujini on the other hand was injured and so Damdeok escaped and brought Sujini in Kyoomul Village.

Sujini is lying on a bed while Damdeok is taking care of her. When she woke up…they had this conversation and I think their relationship as friends, king to subordinate is getting more deeper. They do talk seriously sometimes but you can see his amusement when he looks at her.

Damdeok: You are alive?

Suzinee: Did I die?

Damdeok: I thought you were dead.

Suzinee: I’m persistent. I will not die easily.

Damdeok: I told you that I have known her since I was eleven.

Suzinee: Don’t you know that,Trust is the mother of deceit!

Then he said he made a mistake and that mistake killed his father, the people in Daejongso and it almost killed her.  She told him not to fret about it because  he becomes the King, he will probably kill more people with his order of attack when in battle. She told him he needs to persevere and no matter how painful the outcome of his decisions, he needs to move on to become an effective King. Then she said that her head is already aching with all that talk.

Damdeok: Suzinee, Did I tell you this before?

Suzinee: What is it?

Damdeok: I said, THANK YOU.

The Yeun’s and the Hwachoong already heard that Damdeok went to the Shrine to see his father’s body. They believe that he will show up to the last day of the month. An event will take place to decide who killed his father and since the people in their country believes that Damdeok killed his father they will welcome the thought of him being present in that day.

They planned to use the Choomo Sword Test on Damdeok. It has been a tradition that the sword test can be used to prove the accused innocence and if the sword does not kill you then you are released from any accusation. Ho Gae decided that he will insist on doing that to Damdeok. Nobody ever survived the test. He then told Kiha that if ever she meets his cousin to tell him not to show his face to ceremony at the shrine anymore.

In the Kyoomul Village, Hyeon tried to convince Damdeok not to attend the ceremony but Damdeok insisted that if they truly believe he is the Jushin King then heaven will protect him.

During the ceremony in the Shrine, Lord Yeun was announcing that the Imperial Guard stole the Choomo Sword, killed the previous King then delivered it to Damdeok and that a lot of people saw it.

Damdeok then arrived in the Shrine and told them that it is correct. The sword was delivered to her by one of their bravest guard, Kakdan and that they should honor her. He told them that she risked her life to obey the King’s order. Furthermore, he said:

I became the prince of Gokuryo by the order of the previous King and Heaven. Now, Heaven has sent me here.

There are more side stories but I intentionally did not include them here and just focus on the more important highlights of each episode. Every now and then I still make mistakes on the names of the characters, please bear with me.
