So much sh*t going on in Unstoppable Marriage.
I am not dissing the movie, y’all. That’s one line in the movie that kept me rolling in laughter from Kim Soo Mi who played mother to Ha Suk Jin. She really brought the house down with her hilarious use of bad English and French.
Ki-Baek (Ha Suk Jin) is a plastic surgeon who comes from a rich affluent modern family.
Eun-Ho (Eugene) is a traditional Korean doll maker who comes from a middle class traditional family.
Boy meets Girl in a paragliding event, fought and annoyed with each other in the beginning then end up falling for each other. Parents did their best to discourage their relationship but love conquers all. The End.
The story isn’t that unique but I am so thankful that this one does not include cancer, car accidents, amnesia, brothers/cousins falling for the same woman, and of course the genius evil villains.
This is simply a funny movie. Too bad I didn’t really feel a great chemistry between Eugene and Ha Suk Jin although there is nothing really to hate or dislike. I think the movie focused more on the squabling parents than their romance.
It started a bit slow and lame to me but when the two parents met and forged an alliance to break the lovers apart, that’s where the real fun started. How the parents strategized in breaking them up and the butchering of the English language was so hilarious.
Althought it was a comedy, it also gave a solid sentimental feel that did not border on being so overmelodramatic that some movies usually tends to give when nearing the climax.
All in all it’s one funny, feel good movie that I will recommend to those who just wants to laugh.
All together now, “Siyet”, “Funky Siyet”…I wish I can write it the way the mother delivers it!
