If you are so into korean daily drama series, I now by now you are so familiar with the on and off relationship between Hosae and Saebyeok, right? I am getting into the YAMD Fever – You Are My Destiny!
Surprisingly, it was my little niece who got addicted to the series. She saw one episode of the series and she got hooked. No, she does not know a single word in Korean. She said the girl look pretty and that she was intrigued by the way the koreans eat and since I am a very, very loving and doting Aunt, I downloaded all the episodes with subtitles that I can get from the Internet. But since, I am also a very, very busy Aunt, I just let her watch it straight from the video streaming sites. We started out late and since they are over the 100th episode already, we got a lot of catching up to do. But recently, I just couldnt wait anymore so I went and watch some recent episodes, I skipped some episodes just to see what’s going on already…that is the beauty of the Internet!
To see an 11 yr old girl squealing whenever Hosae and Saebyeok hold their hands or hug one another was quite charming and a little bit alarming at the same time. She does not even understand most of what’s going on, I could not really explained some delicate and sensitive issues in detail with her. Relationships, compromises, even sex. When it gets too difficult to explain, I just go to my usual safe answer, which is “I do not really understand as well, maybe it has something to do with them being Korean”.
The good thing about the series is that, it’s all about family values. Whatever race you belonged to, basically, families around the world share the same common values. Some may differ in its interpretation and implementation but it all boils down to thing called love and the sacrifices you go through just to protect that love, may it be for a partner, friend, parents, children, etc.
I do not really like long dramas but I dont know why I got sucked into this particular drama especially since I am not familiar with most of them except from Lee Ji Hoon (from previous dramas) and Yoona (Girls Generation of course although I do not know a single song or any other member of the group, they are just everywhere…).
Although the Hosae-Saebyeok addiction started with my little niece, everyone in the house is getting sucked into it just like me. She even requested that I make her some banners with Yoona on it. I wanted to grant her request but I got too little spare time and so my Web Friend Nicky from asiancelebshops was kind enough to make some.
If you guys are not really into it yet or if you are just plain curious about it, watch the following videos:
By now, my little niece is quite fast in reading subtitles…it helped her in school. Her teacher for speed reading class was quite impressed.
