I am building a new home which is practically the same as this one although I am trying to make it better than this, hopefully. I will still continue writing for this one…hahaha…I know I have not written any lately…too many distractions!

However, my new home is at http://asiandramaaddict.com or you just simply click here.

It may be down sometimes because I am still trying to organize and fix things. The whole COFFEE PRINCE recaps are already there and I am on the process of trasnferring HANA KIMI. I am painstakingly transferring the posts manually for God knows why… it will take too many hours for me to tell you all about it anyway you are all invited to go over there…I hope I can fix it before the month ends…

See yah!

I did feature this manga last year when I was trying to ease my boredom for lack of anything interesting in the drama field. There were people who asked me if there is a live action series based on it and during that time there was no indication if somebody is interested to do it or there were no press releases yet.

It is a quite popular manga and so I am not surprised that they made a TV series out of it. For full synopsis of the story, click here, but that is if they will strictly follow the manga plot.

Zettai Kareshi TV Poster

Main Cast:

Hayami Mokomichi as Tenjo Night
Aibu Saki as Izawa Riko
Mizushima Hiro as Asamoto Soshi

I am not that familiar with Japanese actors but I can recognize the two male leads. The one playing as the perfect boyfriend, the robot or Tenjo Night starred in Gokusen 2 back in 2005. The other guy Mizushima Hiro is definitely Hana Kimi’s dorm leader Nanba Minami. It is a love triangle obviously with a twist. How can one compete with a perfect man, he is a robot for god’s sake.

It is currently airing over at Fuji TV. I am not so sure if you can watch it live streaming in the net. Anyway, fans now are so fast in sharing their videos so just check it out in the different video sharing sites.

Browsing over manga sites is something really new to me. I never like comic books or anime. I always believe why waste my time on them when I can have the real thing – live action series.

No offense meant for anime/cartoon lovers out there. I just can’t imagine myself watching computer animated creatures with big rounded eyes squealing, crying and talking like real people.

One time I asked my older sister why she is so fascinated with them and she said that watching anime for her is more pleasurable that live action series. Her one major reason is that she can enjoy any anime without being bias about a certain actor. Anime characters are all just characters whereas if you watch a drama series actors real personality steps in. Sometimes even if the story is so great, you can’t get pass the actors personality and that clouds your judgment. Instead of just enjoying the story you are somehow distracted by the actor.

Hmmmnnn, true but still….

Anyway, here I am and trying to discover the world of mangas.

Going back to my real topic for this post. One manga I discovered somehow interesting is one that was created by Yuu Watase. She is a mangaka who is famous for putting handsome male characters into her series. She has become a popular manga artist.

Absolute Boyfriend is a story about a girl, Riiko Izawa, who never ever had a boyfriend yet. It is “the one” impotant thing that she wanted in her life. Then one evening, she sees a man drop his cell phone. She picks it up and brings it back to him. He turned out to be a kind salesman. He thanked her and told her to check his company’s website.

When she surf the internet and went on to the man’s site, she discovered that she can get the one thing she was wishing for all her life, a boyfriend. She can order a boyfriend from the site and can keep him for three days for free.

Soon her order arrived at her doorstep and she names him Night. She is so happy and stunned to discover that he is really the perfect boyfriend.

The problem is that her 3 days went by so fast. She must return Night but she realizes that she cannot part with the robot. So she did not return him to the company. Then her bill arrived and it is amounting to a million dollars. She knew she cannot pay the bill so she talked with the salesman and they both agreed that she will help the company to gather some data on women so they can improve the robots that they are creating. Night can stay with her as long as she can help them create a perfect boyfriend.

Riiko’s next door neighbor, Soshi gets so jealous whenever he sees him with Riiko. He has had a major crush on her for a  very long time but doesn’t know what to do with it and just resort in teasing her every chance he gets.

She then discovered Soshi’s feelings for her and is having a hard time deciding on who to choose. Night who is a perfect robot boyfriend who is beginning to develop real(?!!) emotions and Soshi her next door neighbor who vowed to protect her all his life.

I know it is some sort of fantasy novel as almost all mangas are. Still, you can’t help but imagine how the author will weave the story up to the last volume of the series.

Is my desperation showing?….absorbing just about anything that I find in the net, live action or not…

Clearly, I am suffering from a classic disease of boredom not withstanding the drought for great satisfying asian dramas.

Hmnnn…I think I need to focus now on my other passion which is music. That is one big arena where I can find something that will truly surely capture my interest at the moment…hopefully.

Movie/Drama Soundtracks here I come.

Surfing for anything that may ease my boredom led me to this manga series called W Juliet written by Emura. The title is so called W Juliet because  the “W” in Japanese sounds as ‘double’, so in English it means “Two Juliets”. A light, funny story is just what I need.

This sparked my interest because after watching Eun Chan of CP and Mizuki of HK pretending to be boys I did asked myself if there is a story out there that required the main lead dressed up as a girl. So here it is.

Basically, there is this guy named Makoto who is attending a co-ed school dressed up as a girl and there is this girl named Ito who is really tomboyish, looks and behaves like a boy. They are not of the same class. They just met each other in a drama club because both their lifelong dream is to be an actor.

Romeo and Juliet is the next play they are going to do. Ito was chosen to play Romeo, a role that she doesn’t want to play mainly because she is tired of playing male roles. Juliet’s role is being contested for by two other girls, Makoto and Tsugunami. The latter is being favored to get the part but Makoto proved to them that he can also be an effective Juliet.

Both Ito and Makoto became friends and was in for a great shock when she discovered that he’s really a boy. Although Makoto was also shocked when he found out that Ito is really a girl. He never thought that she was just boyish because she wears a boy’s uniform in school.

The reason why Makoto is pretending to be a girl is because of the dare that his father gave him. A dare that will give him his approval to pursue a career in acting. Makoto’s father is a traditional man who owns a martial arts dojo and he wanted his one and only son to succeed him. His father told him that if he can convince others that he is a girl for two years without getting caught then he can have an acting career. Makoto accepted the challenge.

Ito helped Makoto to keep his real gender a secret from others. They took part in many plays in their drama club because of their chemistry and great acting. The fun part of the whole thing is that they both often play the part of the hero and the heroine so they are both doing a double acting.

The whole manga series (14 Volumes) is all about Makato and Ito’s final years in school. How they both tackle the obstacles that came their way most especially when Makato’s arranged fiance came into the picture. How their friendship blossomed to love and how they depended on each other to pursue their goals.

I am not sure if this manga has a live action series or an anime series version already. I hope they make one soon. The storyline is pretty interesting. It’s more like CP or HK the other way around.

I hope I can find an E-book version of this manga. If you guys stumbled into one please let me know.
